About Me

Hi, my name is Lily and I’m the author of the Homestead From the Ground Up blog. I am a California transplant, living in Pennsylvania for the last 11 years. I’m just about used to the winters now … almost.

The Handyman and I have five awesome kids. The oldest will be able to vote this year, and the youngest just turned one.

We also have a nutty rescue dog, Rocco, who isn’t quite sure what’s going on most of the time, but we love him anyway.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a focus in Biodiversity and Conservation Biology and a Master’s degree in Environmental Policy and Management with a focus in Sustainability. I am a private tutor in math and science, and I have taught college-level courses in animal behavior, genetics, general biology, cell and molecular biology, and neuroscience.

Together we all live in an 1800s stone farmhouse in Pennsylvania Dutch country.
